The Gym
The Wupperwände, run under the aegis of the German Alpine Association (DAV), extends its corrugated steel walls on the northern shore of the Wupper in the eastern part of the valley („Tal“). Below its 16m-high roof, the purpose-built gym houses 1300m2 of climbing surface, routes of up to 25m length, an imposing 12m roof and a bouldering area of over 200m2 with its unique „Hindenblock“ module. The Wupperwände acts as regional base for competitive athletes and collaborates closely with national as well as international players such as Jonas Baumann, Juliane Wurm, Markus Jung and Udo „Udini" Neumann.
The Wupperwände is also the reigning HardMoves champion. The path towards the title will therefore inevitably lead past our team of steely, tough, yoga-balanced pros – or perhaps rather not...
